documentation
2018 - present
Throughout my career so far as an industrial designer, I have had the opportunity to create research documents on a number of materials and process experimentation. Ask me about some of the examples here...

Malt & Hops - Honours Thesis
My honours project marked both the beginning of my fascination with materials and processes and the first piece of research documentation that I created.
The work looks at the design of beer bottles that portray the style of beer within through their aesthetics. Using malt and hops, large sections of the bottles were compression moulded. The resulting book comprehensively records the design process from ideation, through material development to the finished model.

Marine Debris Plastic
Whilst working at Vert Design in Sydney as a materials research assistant I was able to learn about and document their development of processes to mould marine plastic debris using injection moulding techniques.
In order to better understand both the material and process, I hand (low pressure) injection moulded a piece into a mould of my own design.

Paper Pulp Moulding
During my time at Vert I was also able to study their paper pulp moulding experimentation and how this was applied to commercial products.
Whilst there, I also experimented with the material in a small compression moulding device in order to better understand the material and process. This allowed me to document Vert's experiments more thoughtfully.

Waste Material
My first research project at Vert was to develop a new process for transforming a particular waste material into consumer products. The process consisted of experimenting with the material using different processes and documenting the outcomes. Once a satisfactory result was achieved and the process refined, the project sought to explore how this material could be perceived depending on its application.
